Although time builds heritage it also weakens brick and mortar. The neighborhood has also grown and School Settlement Association is straining to grow with it. There is a need for gym space. Many schools in the area don’t have gymnasiums. Even School Sett’s gym is small and holds an abbreviated basket ball court.
“The need is here, it’s time to step up. You ever hear that somebody has to stand up for the little guy?” Joseph Robles, St. Nicks Alliance’s Board Chair, was quoted in the Greenpoint Star “There are a lot of little guys here, and we have to stand up for them.”

School Settlement Association’s football team and coaches were jazzed to play their championship game in the snow.
St. Nicks Alliance’s Division of Youth and Education is looking for After-School Group Leaders to serve at School Settlement Association. Group Leaders will plan and implement social, recreational, and educational activities for students in grades K through 8. Candidates with experience and talent teaching specific activities or theme-based clubs including sports, arts, STEM, or literacy are encouraged to apply and highlight those talents and experience.
As a part of the Capital Campaign to build awareness and financial support a new community center at 120 Jackson Street, the board of directors has put together a new community cookbook, with recipes, stories and photographs from friends, neighbors, local businesses and alumni of the Sett.

School Settlement Association (The Sett or SSA), the oldest settlement house in Brooklyn, has been serving the community of Williamsburg for over 100 years with low-cost family, after-school, summer camp and educational enrichment activities.
The existing facility at 120 Jackson Street is beyond its useful life, and has been approved for a complete reconstruction. School Settlement is partnered with St. Nicks Alliance to build a new state of the art facility that can help future generations with literacy, nutrition, advocacy and education for all ages.
